Tax the Greedy Billionaires Pushes Tax on Extreme Wealth In Response to Latest Major AI Corruption

WASHINGTON, D.C. — OpenAI just confidentially filed for an initial public offering, days after Anthropic announced their own plans to go public and ahead of SpaceX’s debut earlier this week. In response, Tax the Greedy Billionaires Campaign Director Igor Volsky issued the following statement:

“This wave of AI companies filing IPOs underscores our increasingly two-tiered society—a handful of investors are about to become obscenely wealthy at the same time thousands of tech workers are being laid off and millions of Americans struggle to make ends meet.

“We’ve seen this horror movie before—and it always ends the same way. Companies like OpenAI and Anthropic have leveraged their massive financial and political capital to prop themselves up. They privatize the gains, making themselves inordinately wealthy, while passing  the losses on to the rest of us.

“To keep them from rigging the system even further against us, we must tax their obscene wealth and break up their undue influence over everything from the prices we pay for groceries to people elected to Congress.”

Taxing Billionaires is Overwhelmingly Popular, Setting up Battle ahead of Midterms

An April 2026 poll by Impact Research shows that voters overwhelmingly support (77%) increasing taxes on billionaires—including 75% of Independents and even 65% of Republicans. Voters reward candidates who support raising taxes on billionaires and punish those who don’t: Candidates who embrace raising taxes on billionaires hold a 50-point electoral advantage over those who oppose such policies. This gap widens to a 79-point margin among Democratic primary voters (83% more likely to vote for candidate who supports increase versus just 4% for a candidate who is opposed).
